Gigi Hadid Reveals She Suffers From A Disease That Fks With Your Metabolism

As well as announcing an imminent social media detox yesterday, Gigi Hadid made another big reveal at Reebok‘s celeb-studded ‘Never Perfect‘ panel: she suffers from Hashimoto’s disease, a condition that affects the thyroid.

The 21-year-old model (*of the year*, no less) said she’s been taking meds for the past two years, but still struggles to maintain a normal metabolism.

“My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year,” she told the crowd, as well as fellow panellists Ruby Rose, Lena Dunham, Zoë Kravitz and Aly Raisman. “I have Hashimoto’s disease. It’s a thyroid disease, and it’s now been two years since taking the medication for it, so for the VS show I didn’t want to lose any more weight, I just want to have muscles in the right place, and if my butt can get a little perkier, then that’s good.”

Let’s be real, though – ya’ girl slayed the Victoria’s Secret runway.

Hashimoto’s disease is a condition in which your immune system attacks your thyroid, a gland in your throat that controls your body’s hormonal functions, most notably your metabolism.

It mostly affects middle-aged women, but can occur in both men and women of any age.
