George RR Martin Casually Dropped A New Chapter From ‘The Winds Of Winter’

Whilst George RR Martin has been hard at work letting us all know he’s hard at work, it turns out that whilst he’s been dedicating an exorbitant amount of time to spreading the word that he’s actually writing, in the downtime from doing that he’s actually been writing.

The long awaited sixth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series – The Winds of Winter – is still pending release, with its completion and on-sale dates still unknown.
But fear and panic of looming deadlines are a fiercely great motivator for creativity, and a colossal HBO drama series based on your books that’s shortly about to overtake you in terms of plot and move on without you through the story that you created is as good as any fear-based motivator could possibly ever be.
So whilst the premiere of season five of Game of Thrones draws closer with each passing day, George has been busying himself scribbling away at the new book. And to prove that, he just so happened to casually drop an entire new chapter of it for you all to read at your leisure.
The new chapter centres on Alayne Stone – the secret identity of Sansa Stark whilst she was living in the Vale – and clocks in at a meaty 6,700 words. It’s the tenth chapter of the book revealed to fans thus far. Those of you savvy with Google might be able to dig through to the bowels of the internet to find some of the others, which have proven difficult to find, though four only exist as readings from George during fan conventions and may require a flux capacitor to retrieve.
The mighty weight of GoT fandom has pushed poor George’s website to breaking point on a number of occasions, and thus it’s been up and down over the past little while.
However if you’re willing and brave and able, you can smash all 6,700-odd words directly into your face RIGHT NOW by following this here fancy little hyperlink.
Game of Thrones season five premieres as a global simulcast from HBO on Monday, April 13th Australian time, which you can watch via Foxtel channel Showcase.
The Winds of Winter is due out at some point between tomorrow and the apocalypse.
