Trans teens are seldom well-represented in mainstream cinema, but this year’s About Ray, a film that has AWARDS SEASON written all over it in 100pt font, is about to change that.
The film stars Elle Fanning as Ray, a teenager transitioning from female to male, and for added star power, features Naomi Watts and Susan Sarandon as her mother and grandmother.
Tate Donovan, consummate player of deadbeat dads since The O.C., plays Ray’s paternal unit, and the trailer, below, is sure to make you feel all the feelings.
The film does not yet have an Australian release date confirmed, but is due for release in the US in September.
