The two precious seasons of Dave Chappelle’s The Chappelle Show provided some of the most hilarious, totally irreverent moments on tv. The show’s run was cut short when in 2005 Chappelle famously bailed on on a $50 million contract with Comedy Central and disappeared on a South African sojourn to recover from stress and exhaustion, as he later explained. That’s cool because we’ve all gone on the proverbial safari from time to time when things get too intense; except when Dave went on vacation he forgot to tell anyone – including his wife – where he was headed, prompting discussion that perhaps he was a little cray-cray.
Apparently Chappelle is still engaging in less than sane behaviour after TMZ reported a recent “incident” on a private jet when, during the flight, Dave reportedly “freaked out” and was deemed a safety risk after refusing to put a seat belt on, entering the cockpit and grabbing the pilot’s arms.
A rep for Chappelle said Dave really needed to use the restroom because he ate something that didn’t sit well and the bathroom on the plane was “not the kind he needed.”
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
