Cronulla Doco Secures Screen Australia Funding

A documentary about the lead up to and events of the 2005 Cronulla race riots entitled 10 Days That Shocked The Nation is one of five films to receive funding from the national screen agency, Screen Australia, in their latest budget.

The film, produced by Sue Clothier, will be broadcast on the SBS’s online channel.

The Cronulla area has received considerable attention recently after rumours spread that Channel 10 planned to axe their upcoming show, The Shire, a Jersey Shore style reality TV show about Sutherland Shire locals. Channel 10 has since denied the reports and told viewers to “stay tuned” for the announcement of who will be Sydney’s answer to Snooki and Pauly D.

Vocal Sutherland mayor Carol Provan, who has publicly opposed The Shire, responded to the news of the Cronulla doco with the statement, “That’s all we need isn’t it?”
