Christian Bale appears for the first time sans-bat suit in the upcoming film, Out Of The Furnace, headed by Crazy Heart director, Scott Cooper.
The film follows Russell Baze (Christian Bale) after his younger brother and Iraq war veteran Rodney Baze (Casey Affleck) is mysteriously reported missing. The law enforcement fail to investigate the disappearance, so Russell Baze takes things in to his own hands to seek justice and revenge. Hm. Nothing at all like Batman, then, obviously.
The small town featuring in Cooper’s anticipated feature is known Rust Bent, an economically impoverished, grim existence where fist fights are enthusiastically taken to as a matter of hobby, lonely bars line the streets under a canopy of sky that seems to be perpetually gloomy. The trailer already promises a staggering, sprawling drama that absolutely reeks of Oscar bait: veterans of the Academy Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker and Sam Shepard all starring alongside the Oscar-bait-poster boy himself, Christian Bale.
