Channel Ten Moves ‘The Project’ For The Third Time

The Project, or ‘The Artist Formerly Known As The 7 PM Project’ has made its third timeslot move in about a year on Channel Ten. The current affairs briefing, run by the occasionally LOL trio of Dave Hughes, Charlie Pickering and Carrie Bickmore has now been shifted back to 6pm in order to compete directly with traditional news bulletins on Channels Seven and Nine.

Ten’s Programming Chief David Mott said the move was all about “attracting a younger audience who preferred their news and current affairs in a less-traditional format.” What he forgot about was that by 6pm, all the good stories have been flung around Twitter and beaten to death by Facebook, particularly those which concern young people. More importantly, WHERE IS GEORGE NEGUS AT?

The shifted timeslot will also allow Ten to spruik more populist programming that the average Australian loves, including: shows about cooking high-calorie, gorgeous meals in a high pressure environment (Masterchef) and shows about losing stacks of weight in a high pressure environment (Biggest Loser).

All in all, a win for the obese, who may spend more time in front of television sets anyway.
