Following the excruciatingly arduous marketing tease for The Hunger Games‘ final offering—teaser trailers for teaser trailers, smdh—the franchise has finally released the first full-length trailer for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2′ AKA Jennifer Lawrence looking perpetually fraught with angst as she single-handedly saves the world.
All of the Hunger Games’ biggest stars and cameos are back for one last swing at revolution – Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Willow Shields, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Natalie Dormer, with Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland have all returned to farewell the Capitol.
Game faces are drawn, Katniss’ requisite heavy Battle Royale eyeliner is smeared on thick, and explosions abound in what appears to be a full-blown revolt against the districts’ makers. Or, in the synopsis’ words:
“With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale, Finnick, and Peeta – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.”
