‘Buffy’ Remake Could Mean A Luke Perry Comeback

Long before Joss Whedon was toasting the meal ticket that his hugely successful series Buffy The Vampire became, he had a much less popular movie of the same name starring Kristy Swanson as vampire slaying cheerleader Buffy Summers and 90210 rebel Luke Perry as her love interest, Pike. Apparently Joss Whedon has plans are in place to reboot Buffy in a new feature film and according to reports Swanson wants in: “Let Buffy live. Why not? If they wanted me to be a part of it, I think that would be fantastic and that it would be a blast,” she recently told Entertainment Weekly.

The question of everyone’s lips is: will Luke Perry get on board to rekindle the chemistry of the first film?

“I’ve never lost love for that character,” Perry said. “Playing Pike was one of the defining moments of my career, and certainly one of the more inspiring characters I’ve had the pleasure of playing.”

Only kidding Luke did not say that. It would be awesome if he did though.

UPDATE via Daily Beast: “Joss Whedon emailed E! his reaction to the news that he will not be a part of the movie revival of the show. “This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths-just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own,” he writes. Whedon is being replaced by Whit Anderson, a 29-year-old newcomer to Hollywood, who has been a fan of the show since her youth. “I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER,” he tells E!”
