Weeks after Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell‘s fast-tracked, pre-lockdown wedding, Animal Planet has announced a 1-hour television special documenting the whole affair. Suddenly everything makes sense now.

Crikey! It’s the Irwins: Bindi’s Wedding will offer an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the intimate ceremony at Australia Zoo, which will no doubt include a mad-rush to get hitched weeks before they’d planned. Come to think of it, this is going to be more stressful than MasterChef. And that’s saying something.

“It features special moments between the couple and their family including Robert walking Bindi down the aisle,” the show’s description reads. “Bindi lighting a candle to honour her father, Steve Irwin, during the ceremony, and in true Irwin fashion, special appearances by their animal family including koalas, macaws and snakes.”

Okay, NOW I’m tearing up. (Image: Supplied)

Bindi and long-time beau Chandler tied the knot back in March just hours before COVID-19’s federal wedding restrictions were put in place nationwide. They’d originally planned to get hitched April 4, but life had other plans and contracts had obviously been signed.

Crikey! It’s the Irwins: Bindi’s Wedding will hit US screens this weekend, but we’ll have to wait until *checks notes* July for the 60-minute spectacle. If you reckon you won’t lose interest by then, pencil in Animal Planet on Foxtel for Saturday 18 July at 6:30pm.

In the meantime, here’s this image, courtesy of People, of the married duo with a fucking terrifying, otherworldly snake.
