Oh god, prepare your heartstrings. Bindi Irwin has uploaded an old interview with her dad where he chokes up while talking about his kids.
“My first time watching this footage was only a few days ago,” she wrote on Instagram. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended. My dad. My superhero.”
In the footage, the late Steve Irwin describes the one situation that would make him leave the wildlife conservation game for good.
“When my children can take the football that I call wildlife conservation, and run it up,” he says, his voice shaking with emotion. “When they’re ready, to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside. I guarantee you it’ll be the proudest moment of my life, and my job will be done. Then and only then, will I know that I have achieved my ultimate goal: to be able to stand aside and let them run up my mission.”
My first time watching this footage was only a few days ago. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended. My dad. My superhero. I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever. A new chapter in our lives has begun as we embark on this journey with @animalplanet. There is so much on the horizon. We can’t wait to share our story as a family ❤️???? #WildlifeWarriors
Russell Crowe chimed in about the video on Twitter, calling Steve a “top bloke” who was “tough as nails” and wore his “heart on his sleeve”.
Ah , talk about a super bowl day moment … what a top bloke … tough as nails , heart on his sleeve, never a wasted breath, full of love and man could he make me laugh … https://t.co/qFQQv92zOO

Ugh. Don’d mind me, just sobbing at my desk over here. RIP Steve.

Remembering these days. This is a 3 year old Bindi helping out with Dad's documentary filming. Life is always changing and evolving and I'll always be thankful that I learned so much from my dad. He taught me to treat every being on Earth the way you would wish to be treated. From the tiny ants to the enormous elephants. We are all connected and must respect each other to live in true harmony. I'll forever be thankful to have had these values passed on to me. Happy Australian Father's Day❤️ May your heart be full and your day be filled with the ones you hold dear. Here's to unconditional love and happiness beyond compare.
