Bindi Irwin Just Shared An Old Steve Irwin Interview That’ll Make You Cry

Oh god, prepare your heartstrings. Bindi Irwin has uploaded an old interview with her dad where he chokes up while talking about his kids.

“My first time watching this footage was only a few days ago,” she wrote on Instagram. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended. My dad. My superhero.”

In the footage, the late Steve Irwin describes the one situation that would make him leave the wildlife conservation game for good.

“When my children can take the football that I call wildlife conservation, and run it up,” he says, his voice shaking with emotion. “When they’re ready, to run up our mission, I will gladly step aside. I guarantee you it’ll be the proudest moment of my life, and my job will be done. Then and only then, will I know that I have achieved my ultimate goal: to be able to stand aside and let them run up my mission.”

Russell Crowe chimed in about the video on Twitter, calling Steve a “top bloke” who was “tough as nails” and wore his “heart on his sleeve”.

Ugh. Don’d mind me, just sobbing at my desk over here. RIP Steve.
