The data was collated by creating geographical boundaries in certain Australian cities and collecting and analysing data in those zones. Their findings are pretty powerful but paint only a portion of the social media picture as any images set to private, not within the designated geographical boundaries or not geotagged were not included in the analysis. Still, we’ve gleaned some interesting stuff about the way in which we use Instagram. For example…
1) Sydney is the most Instragrammed city in the country. Duh! Beautiful people. Beautiful narcissistic people.
2) The typical Australian Instagram user lives on the East Coast and posts an average of 2.3 photos per week.
3) How do you maximise “likes”? Peak usage occurs every Sunday at 5pm while peak weekday usage occurs at 8pm. Upload your photos accordingly.
And these are the 20 most popular hashtags on Instagram.
