Apple Music Teases 1st Few Hosts Of Its Revolving ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Roster

Carpool Karaoke, the segment from James Corden‘s ‘The Late Late Show’ that spawned from a skit he did for Comic Relief with George Michael, gained such a huge cult following in such a short amount of time that Apple Music got on board and bought it
There was much speculation as to whether Corden himself would still continue to do the segment, and now it’s 100% confirmed: the host will no longer be doing it.
Instead, it’ll apparently be an ever-changing roster of celebrities sitting in cars alongside musicians.
“We’re really excited about the pairings we’re putting together,” said Corden.
So, for example, Billy Eichner will host an episode with Metallica as his guest, and other pairings include John Legend with Alicia Keys and Seth MacFarlane with Ariana Grande
Executive producer Ben Winston told Variety
What James does is so special and singular, it was silly, as we figured out how to make a full series, to try and replicate that.

We wouldn’t do Will Smith on [‘Late Late Show’]. So many people have been getting in touch with us, big movie stars, and we’re like, ‘that’s not really for us,’ but here with Apple Music it’s perfect.”
However, Corden will also continue to do the segment on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden‘.
“When you’re putting together a talk show you’re searching for the things that will define your show,” Corden said.

“Next thing you know hundreds of millions of people are watching it.”
But he knows it needs to be done sporadically, rather than every episode:
“We can only do it so many times. We’ve done 300 shows and we’ve done it, what, 23 times?”
