Anna Kendrick, who starred in
Pitch Perfect and can therefore do no wrong, has signed on to a new project, and it sounds like it’s really something. It’s a musical (yay!) from animation studio
Dreamworks (sure) about
Troll Dolls (umm …), the big hair-having children’s toys that were hugely popular back in the ’90s.
The Wrap reports that Trolls will be released in November of 2016. Kendrick is set to play a princess named Poppy, in the story of how the adorable and ever-so-slightly-creepy creatures got their gravity-defying hair. There’s no word on whether Harry Styles is involved, but he sings, he has an adorable accent and he’s basically a human troll doll already, so it seems likely.
The actress is also set to star in every other upcoming Hollywood musical, from now until infinity. The blockbuster Into The Woods, due out later this year, features Kendrick as Cinderella, and also stars the likes of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, James Corden and Christine Baranski.
There’s also
The Last Five Years, which is similarly based on a Broadway musical, and stars Kendrick as a struggling actress and
Jeremy Jordan as her writer boyfriend, telling the tale of their relationship over a five year period. Lest we forget, there’s also
Pitch Perfect 2, which is currently filming in the
swamps of Louisiana and is due out next year.
Jeez, Anna Kendrick, give some other starry-eyed young dreamer the chance to sing for once.
