Abbott and Howard were Booed on Arrival at Whitlam’s Memorial

Earlier today, a state funeral was held in Sydney for former Australian Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam. A number of prominent political figures attended, including the nation’s living former Prime Ministers.

How did conservatives Tony Abbott and John Howard go over with what ABC News describes as the “fairly partisan” crowd? See for yourself:
Former Immigration Minister Philip Ruddock didn’t get the warmest reception, either. Interestingly, former Labor leader Julia Gillard was given a more fond welcome than Kevin Rudd.
The ABC’s overall assessment? “You can tell which side this crowd is on.” Yeah, bit of an understatement there.
Following the service, Gough’s son Tony Whitlam thanked Prime Minister Abbott for the state funeral, saying “we are most grateful to you for authorising this occasion.”
