Rose McGowan Slams “Hipster Prince” James Franco Over Sexual Misconduct

Rose McGowan, who has been critical of the Hollywood establishment for its handling of sexual assault and misconduct, has taken to Twitter to slam “hipster prince” James Franco, the latest powerful man to face harassment allegations from colleagues.

Earlier this week, as Franco was accepting his Golden Globe award for The Disaster Artist, actress Ally Sheedy took to Twitter claiming him as an example of why she left the film industry, and a number of others then came forward with more specific allegations against him.

Yesterday, Franco failed to show up at the Critics Choice Awards, where he was again honoured with a win for The Disaster Artist. In characteristically blunt fashion, McGowan Tweeted out about his decision to skip the ceremony, saying “I know what you did last summer.”

She then went on to add:

“James Franco is a cuddly guy, but so are bears. Selectively Deaf Hollywood has heard about this asshole for years. His hipster Prince of Hollywood’s bro status protected him. Bros before Ho’s, amiright?”

James Franco addressed the sexual misconduct allegations against him during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, saying that the accusations against him on social media are “not accurate”, and that he does not recall any particular incident involving Ally Sheedy.

In a separate interview with Stephen Colbert, the actor said:

“The way I live my life, I can’t live if there’s restitution to be made. I will make it. If I have done something wrong, I will fix it. I have to. I’m here to listen and learn and change my perspective when it’s off. I’m completely willing and I want to.”
