Wife Of Scientology Leader Spotted For The First Time In Ten Years

Shelly Miscavige, the wife of controversial Scientology leader David Miscavige, has allegedly been “spotted” in a small town in San Bernadino County, almost a decade on from her last public appearance in 2007.
Journalist Tony Ortega, who writes extensively on Scientology and was featured in the documentary Going Clear, says he was contacted by a source who claims to have seen Miscavige out and about a number of times in the last year.
The source is a woman by the name of ‘Rachel‘, who lives in Crestline, California, close to the headquarters of the Scientology-affiliated Church of Spiritual Technology.
The first sighting was reportedly in December 2015, outside the Lake Drive Hardware store. ‘Rachel’ claims to have recognised Miscavige from photos published in the media, and said that she appeared “frail”, adding:
“She was a thin, smaller woman, escorted by two men. [She was] dishevelled. Almost like a drug addict, or like she was homeless …”

She was unable to provide a clear description of the men, saying:

“My attention was never on them. My attention was on her. This was what I do for a living, work with people who are in that kind of shape. And I had a thought that this woman was not supposed to be there. It was disturbing.”
The second alleged sighting occurred at a local market, Goodwin & Sons, in April of this year. The source claimed that a woman who looked like Miscavige was again being escorted by two younger men.
‘Rachel’ said that she and her husband travelled to to the CST compound and attempted to take photos, but that a truck soon emerged from behind a fence, and began “following” them as they made their way back to town.
She claimed that, since this incident took place, she has noticed strangers outside her home, and added:
“Yesterday at the grocery store, some guy asked my husband for change and directions, then started asking him personal questions, about how long he had lived in the area, things like that. It was really weird.”
Actress and former Scientologist Leah Remini, who left the church in 2013, has questioned the whereabouts of Shelly Miscavige on a number of occasions, and filed a missing persons report that year.
The Los Angeles Police Department maintained that the report was “unfounded”, while representatives of the church slammed Remini’s actions as “ludicrous self-promotion.”
