In things that make absolute sense this morning, almost 7,000 people are planning to descend on Bronte Beach to watch a supermoon rise out of the ocean next Monday.
You know what the maximum capacity of Bronte Beach is? Well, neither do I, but it’s not 34,000 people, that’s for sure.
The event was started by children’s author Gavin McCormack as a way to celebrate this insanely big moon everyone’s going nuts over.
On November 14 (i.e. next Monday), the moon will be at its closet point to Earth in 70 years. It will become full just two hours after its closest approach to our beloved planet, with NASA dubbing it an “extra-super moon”.
“I’m going to look at it and take some snaps as inspiration for my new book,” wrote McCormack. “Who wants to meet at Bronte Beach to watch this once in a lifetime event.”
Roughly five times the population of Bronte itself, that’s who.
