Jacki Weaver To Play Bradley Cooper’s Mother

Jacki Weaver continues to capitalize on the second most coveted qualifier in Hollywood – Academy Award nominee – with a new slate of projects scheduled to shoot later this year. Following a surprise Supporting Actress nod at last year’s Academy Awards, the Animal Kingdom star has nabbed parts in Jason Segel comedy The Five-Year Engagement, Park Chan-wook thriller Stoker (next to compatriots Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska), and is now in talks to play the mother of Hollywood’s most non-threatening handsome dude not named McConaughey.

According to THR, Weinstein Co. are close to finalising a deal with the actress which would see her star in David O. Russell rom-com The Silver Linings Playbook playing the mother of Bradley Cooper.

The film follows Cooper’s “former high school teacher who is institutionalized for depression and is released from a health facility determined to find the silver linings in his life. He tries to win back his ex-wife but becomes involved with an eccentric neighbor (Jennifer Lawrence) with problems of her own. Weaver will play Cooper’s mother, who takes care of him.”
