Zuckerberg’s Sister Gives A Lesson In ‘Digital Etiquette’

Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Mark Zuckerberg and former Marketing Director at Facebook has learned firsthand how the platform’s new relaxed privacy settings can come back to haunt you.

A photo of Zuckerberg, alongside her brother and family, was leaked onto Twitter after a Facebook user who was friends with her sister grabbed it from the top of her newsfeed.

“Not sure where you got this photo. I posted it to friends only on FB. You reposting it to Twitter is way uncool,”she reprimanded the user, who promptly apologised, because that’s just what you do when a Zuck tells you off. “Digital etiquette: always ask permission before posting a friend’s photo publicly. It’s not about privacy settings, it’s about human decency.

Facebook’s new ‘friends of friends’ default for sharing means the average user can end up innocuously sharing personal information to an extended network of something like 30,000 friends. Turns out even the Zuckerberg family don’t really get how it works.
Awkward.
