At Least 6 Killed In Series Of Ongoing Terror Attacks On Indonesian Capital

It’s being reported that at least six people are dead after a series of bomb blasts in the Indonesian capital and tourist hotspot Jakarta.

It’s alleged “several suicide bombers” set off blasts outside a Starbucks cafe, close to popular shopping centre the Sarinah and UN buildings, after which police moved in.
There have also been details of attackers throwing grenades, with 10-14 gunmen still at large as gunfire continues to ring out (it’s believed several assailants are holed up in the shopping centre).
Footage of one of the bombs going off has been uploaded to Twitter:
Another blast was also captured on camera:

UN staffer Jeremy Douglas, who is currently working in the UN building nearby, tweeted his view when the blasts rang out:

It’s currently unclear who is behind the attacks, but it’s believed to be the work of next-level scum Islamic State.

Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has described the Jakarta attacks as “acts of terror”, releasing a short statement condemning the attacks:
“I have received reports some time ago about the explosion in Thamrin Street, Jakarta. We express condolences to those who became victims, but we all also condemn the attack that caused restlessness among the community,” he said.
We’ll update this story as more comes to light.
