A Van Has Hit Pedestrians On London Bridge In A “Major Incident”

Update: Police are responding to thee incidents around London that appear to be connected, and U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May has made a statement to the media saying that the attack is a “potential act of terrorism.” 



London‘s Metropolitan Police are responding to a situation in which a van has mounted the pavement and hit a number of pedestrians in the popular tourist location of London Bridge
BBC reporter Holly Jones was on the bridge at the time of the incident, and per her account, the van was driven by a man who was “probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour”, or around 80km/h.
Per the latest BBC reports, five people have been treated for injuries in the wake of the incident, while a shirtless man was seen being placed into handcuffs and taken away by officers.
The bridge has been closed in both directions for what has been called a “major police incident”, and buses have been diverted, with pedestrians advised to avoid the area.
