A few days back the one man techno enigma known as Muscles announced the October release of his aptly named Younger & Immature EP, a new 20 minute serving of “thumping rave tunes that makes dancefloors bounce and kids take their shirts off and dance.“. Today we get the first look/listen at said EP’s lead single, “Girl Crazy Go”. Dude’s still shouting (unintelligibly) while swooping synth lines swim aimlessly in the background. It’s actually not too dissimilar from his debut Guns Babes Lemonade but if we were to pinpoint one major difference, Muscles’ appreciation of Nick Skitz, green lazers and other symbols of circa ’93 Oz techno is even more apparent. And while this is a stupid, stupid anthem that’s tailor made for making people sweat in closed boxes at night, there’s a certain charm about it too.
Like the measured hedonism of the track itself the Beaufort directed clip takes the basic premise of LCD Soundsystem’s “Drunk Girls” and injects it with a million volts of techno. Bitches be crazy right? Especially when they’re pyromaniac stage invaders who just need to back the fuck up and let Muscles breathe.
