Active Child And Yo La Tengo Headline A Huge Melbourne Festival Bill

The annual Melbourne Festival is a dynamic explosion of theatre, dance, visual arts, opera and music events for Melbournians to wear black to. As always, the Festival features a diverse line up of music from all over the globe. This year, they’re bringing together 36 shows from six continents (Antarctic music just doesn’t make the grade, unfortunately) in seven venues across the city. We’ve no doubt that it won’t be long before we get some south pole beats in the line up, but for now Active Child, Gurrumul, The Polyphonic Spree, Fuck Buttons, Yo La Tengo and Cody ChestnuTT are just some of the music-makers set to light up the city in October.

Also in the mix? The Cinematic Orchestra, Steve Mason, “Songs of Wreck and Ruin” (starring Tim Rogers, Megan Washington and Paul Capsis), Olafur Arnalds, Husky, Flight Facilities, Amadou & Mariam, Dexter and so much more. The Melbourne Festival runs from 11 – 27 October with more names still to be announced. Tickets go on sale on Friday 16 August at 9am with prices starting at $25.
