Nearly three months after the death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, the band’s Carpool Karaoke episode has been released.
The video, filmed less than a week before Bennington died by suicide in July, captures one of his last public appearances.
Released with the permission of Bennington’s family and bandmates, the footage shows the 41-year-old joking with bandmates Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn, and guest host Ken Jeong.
Oh, and there’s singing. Lots of singing. A rendition of Outkast’s Hey Ya gives way to Linkin Park’s own Numb, which Bennington absolutely belts out.
Watching Bennington roll down the window and point to a random pedestrian while yelling “… with someone disappointed in YOU!” is oddly sweet.
In the days after Bennington’s death, his wife Talinda Bennington took to Twitter with a video showing the singer playing around with his family, in an attempt to highlight the often hidden signs of depression.
This is what depression looked like to us just 36 hrs b4 his death. He loved us SO much & we loved him. #fuckdepression #MakeChesterProud pic.twitter.com/VW44eOER4k

That video, and the just-released Carpool Karaoke clip, are solid reminders that depression can appear in many ways – and sometimes, it might not seem obvious at all.
