Lin-Manuel Miranda, a beacon of light, is yet again leading the campaign to save a show from cancellation. Earlier today, fans of One Day At A Time were dealt a crushing blow by Netflix when it was announced the series would come to an end after three seasons.

The wholesome Cuban-American series is a remake of the Norman Lear sitcom and follows three generations of a family.
In a statement, Netflix said the cancellation was due to poor viewership.
We’ve made the very difficult decision not to renew One Day At A Time for a fourth season. The choice did not come easily — we spent several weeks trying to find a way to make another season work but in the end simply not enough people watched to justify another season.

A source tells Variety, the series is now being shopped elsewhere. And, after the cancellations and subsequent saves of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Lucifer, ODAAT fans are hopeful the series will have the same fate.
One of them is Miranda. The star, who was equally devastated when Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled by FOX, has tweeted a lot about the axing.

Miranda even posted a video with the woman herself, Rita Moreno – who stars as Lydia in the series.
“Are we saving the show?” he asks her.
“Of course we are,” Moreno replies. “You know, I need a new set of curtains.”
BLESS.

The cast, though disappointed, reflected on the past few years on set and thanked fans for their support.
Penelope actor Justina Machado tweeted that she is “so grateful to have played Penelope Alvarez. I don’t even know how to begin to express my gratitude to everyone. Truly, I am so honoured that we got to tell our stories. Yes it was a Latinx family but it was a universal story about family and love. An American Familia.”

Isabella Gomez (Elena) said she was heartbroken by the news.
“I still can’t help but thank Netflix for giving the Alvarez family a home for 3 years and for changing my life,” she tweeted.
This is heartbreaking and I so wish it wasn’t true. But I’m keeping the faith that @OneDayAtATime finds a new home. THANK YOU to all of you who’ve watched and supported. We see you and we love you. Don’t quit before the miracle happens ; ) https://t.co/00Fzgmv5YU

Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero, who guest-starred on the show also shared their disappointment with the hashtag #SaveODAAT.
One of the most beautiful moments I had on set of One Day At A Time was when I got to guest star. Rita Moreno invited myself and @melissafumero into her dressing room. #SAVEODAAT

Fumero quoted a statement from co-creators Gloria Calderón Kellett and Mike Royce.
I am heartbroken. The Latinx community NEEDS this show, and irregardless of that ITS A GREAT, FUNNY, & HEART FELT SHOW WITH FANTASTIC PERFORMACES! SOMEONE SAVE IT! And yeah, I meant the irregardless #SaveODAAT https://t.co/HWoNSBv4dD
