Phoebe McIlwraith

Phoebe McIlwraith is a Bundjalung and Worimi writer, journalist and creative at Pedestrian Group. She’s been a freelance writer and public speaker since 2020 and officially entered “media girly” life as an audio producer for Guardian Australia in 2023. There she worked on ‘The Voice AMA’ in the lead up to the Voice to Parliament Referendum and Full Story, Guardian Australia’s daily news podcast. Phoebe’s opinion pieces and reporting have been published by VICE, Refinery29, Pedestrian.TV, IndigenousX, Common Ground First Nations, Fashion Journal and Groundswell Magazine. Phoebe also loves to brag that her writing has been quoted by two senators, Lidia Thorpe and Dorinda Cox (which is in Hansard). You can find Phoebe on Instagram at @northbutsouthhh, which has been reviewed as a “confusing but delightful” mix of Aboriginal politics, pop-culture hot takes and beach selfies.
