ZING: Qantas Announces Direct Flights To Magical-But-Far Kangaroo Island

If you’re not familiar, Kangaroo Island is basically all the best bits of Australia rolled into one.
You’ve got whiter-than-white beaches.

A perfect day …surfed all morning and did this all afternoon! . We were even joined by a Sea Lion and as usual, not another person in sight ???????? . Image courtesy: @cleocohen @mitchcox and @sealinkki . #Summer #DeEstreesBay #KangarooIsland #SouthAustralia #Australia #authenticKI #openallyear

Human, you shall not pass ?????? . Road rules are a little different over here on Kangaroo Island. We don’t have toll roads or even traffic lights… but our local wildlife sure know how to stop traffic! ????. . If you happen to see an oncoming motorist raising a finger as they pass by, it’s likely to be a friendly gesture of acknowledgement… but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security thinking there’s noone else around. Be sure to pull off to the side of the road, if an unexpected photo opportunity like this one crops up. During winter, you’re more likely to see our wildlife roaming about during the day time, so keep your eyes peeled ?? and your camera fully charged …you never know who you might meet! . It used to be a bit of a bitch (not to mention exxy) to access KI – which lies off the mainland of South Australia, southwest of Adelaide – but Qantas has gone and announced it’s resuming direct flights after a 12 year hiatus.
Yup, the flying Kangaroo will offer flights straight from Melbourne and Adelaide as of December, running between three to five times a week during summer.
SA Premier Jay Weatherill announced the news earlier today, with a little help from one of KI’s natives.
WEEEEEEEE BABY HOPPER.
