Get Inland
Maybe you should go get close to some cute animals at Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. You get to jump on a pushbike and ride around it too, so say hello to mood-boosting endorphins. Animals not your thing? I STILL remember being seriously on edge and fascinated at the same time at Old Dubbo Goal. Sure I was about 10 years old, but that whole experience has stuck with me.
Soak Up The Tropics
Feeling a little more of a sun and sand sitch? Cairns, guys, Cairns. My fam grew up 3 hours south of Cairns so let me tell you (in case you somehow haven’t been already), it even SMELLS better up there. It’s so warm there’s none of that uncomfortable jog-around-in-the-water-until-your-not-frozen thing going. Just get right on in. You’re right on the Great Barrier Reef so the snorkeling is insane if that’s your jam, just please be environmentally responsible while you’re there so we can keep enjoying it for years to come. Get Underground
You know that stupid thing people (by which I mean me, personally) do where they put off Australian destinations they really want to get to because it seems like it’ll always be there? Well, that’s Coober Pedy for me, and we should all definitely stop doing this. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of this underground opal mining town. I enjoy short jaunts into a Wild West kind of vibe too, if I’m totally honest.
Be In The Buzz
Strictly a city person? Why not experience life for our little cousins across the ocean. Do you even know how cheap flights to NZ can be? Pretty cheap. Personally, I’m so keen to get to Christchurch. For starters, I’m an avid hiker, and I don’t think you understand how beautiful this country is. I’ve only been to the north island and the south is meant to be even better. You know what’s even better than a walk through natural beauty? The natural beauty of a cold beer and tasty feed afterward and Christchurch has quite a rep for its foodie scene.
