Virgin Australia is back in a big way, announcing a 12-hour-long flight sale for today. The extended ‘happy hour’ sale has over 60,000 domestic fares up for grabs, starting at a very tidy $75 one way. Once again a reason to yeet on the cheap over summer.
Now that the borders are well on their way to being completely opened back up, the big blitz has a whole smorgasbord of domestic trips available for anyone who’s looking to travel over the holiday period – specifically between December 5, 2020 and January 19, 2021. Look, after a whole year in Melbourne I’m just about ready to absolutely fuck off to the tropics for a bit, so this is bloody perfect.
Kicking off at 11am AEDT on December 3 (that’s today, mates) and running through until 11pm AEDT tonight, the whopping Virgin sale includes a whole heap of flights around the country for under $100 over on the Virgin Australia website. How good.
If you’re after a bit of a north coast summer sojourn, flights from Sydney to Coffs Harbour will set you back $79. Or for those really wanting to get into that thick, humid air of Far North Queensland, it’ll cost you $90 to go from Brisbane to Mackay.
Melburnians can head up to Newcastle for $75, or over to Adelaide for $89. Or if you want to go and have a boogie with 49 other people on a dancefloor, you can head to Sydney for $99.
Above the $100 mark, you could do a full seachange from Hobart to the Gold Coast for $169, or yeet to the heat with Melbourne to Townsville flights going for $189, and to Brisbane for $129.
All of the flights also include the standard bonuses of flying economy with Virgin – like seat selection (for the good spots), Velocity Frequent Flyer (for points goblins like me), and checked baggage (for all those presents you’ll probably be hauling back home).
Virgin has also confirmed that it’ll waive any applicable change fees for flights up until January 31. It’ll also extend the booking flexibility on flights until March 31, 2021, in the case that COVID-19 impacts your planned holidays.
The whole Virgin sale kicks off from 11am and is chockers with solid deals for flights over Christmas and New Years, which is perfect if you’ve been farting about trying to figure out what to do for the holidays, or you haven’t locked anything in while you wait for borders to relax.
Sometimes there is a benefit to waiting to the last minute, and this is one of them.
