TIX PLEASE: Qantas Has Revealed Plans For Direct Flights To NYC & London

Hold onto your butts folks, because stopovers between SydneyMelbourne, and Brisbane and London/New York City might just be a thing of the past as Qantas are pushing to get non-stop flights happening by 2022.

CEO Alan Joyce has thrown down the gauntlet to aircraft companies Boeing and Airbus to develop and produce planes that will be able to do non-stop flights from the east coast to London and New York within the next five years. Think about all that extra nap time, or not getting stuck on a four-hour layover on your way to the other side of the world.

In his CEO address this morning, Joyce added that both Boeing and Airbus are already developing planes that could do the long-haul trip, and that he wants to see it happen in the next five years.

No more will you have to worry about what you’re going to do for six hours in Dubai, or missing a connecting flight in New Zealand. You might even be able to actually finish watching the entire Lord Of The Rings films in one long-ass 20-hour flight.

Oh and even better news if you’re in Perth and wanna get to the other side of the globe – Qantas are starting direct flights as of next year. Ya lucky buggers.
