If like me, you get TLC stuck in your head every time someone mentions a waterfall, then you probably also get the thought ‘but, why wouldn’t I?’. Waterfalls are awesome. They’re majestic, they make for some killer photos and the ones you can swim in are refreshing as heck. Plus you normally have to hike into them so you feel super accomplished and deserving of your leisure time.
In summary, chase waterfalls. Particularly in Queensland where nature has done them particularly well. But extra particularly, chase these doozies that yes, you can defs swim in.
Zoe Falls
There are just SO many reasons to visit the stunning Hinchinbrook Island, so the fact that it’s also home to what I 100% believe to be the most beautiful falls in our fair country is just a giant cherry on top. I mean, it’s a natural infinity pool. Yeah sure it’s a bit more challenging to hike to, but all the best parts of nature are.
Gardeners Falls
When you want a change of scene from the beaches here, head over to Sunshine Coast’s Hinterland area for an easy all-fitness-levels hike into the beautiful Gardeners Falls. The waterfall flows down into a bunch of different pools and chances are SUPER high you’ll get at least one all to yourself.
Cedar Creek Falls

Having a weekend in Brissy? Take the short 30-minute drive to Cedar Creek falls for the perfect day of waterfalls, swimming, picnicking and just general chilling out.
Finch Hatton Gorge
I mean just look at it, Finch Hatton Gorge is obviously glam – in a totally natural way. Pop on by to one of the best kept secrets in Mackay, Eungella National Park, and enjoy freshwater swimming at is best – under the shade of the rain forest canopy.
Millaa Millaa
Find not only the stunning Millaa Millaa Falls but a total of five waterfalls along The Waterfall Circuit in Tropical North Queensland. But seriously, Millaa Millaa Falls legit look like they’re right out of one of those shampoo ads. There’s also a large lawn nearby, so definintly pack yourself a picnic.
Windin Falls
Windin Falls in Wooroonooran National Park are somewhat Insta-famous. As they should be. Follow the two hour hiking track across the Gillies Range then cool down in a natural swimming hole on top of the world looking out across the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics Rainforest.
