Qantas Is Going Full Wonka By Giving 10 Folks Who Cop The Jab Unlimited Free Travel For A Year

Qantas is legit slinging unlimited air travel for a whole year to ten families who get vaccinated, and it’s all part of an upcoming vaccination draw which opens in July.

On top of that, everyone who does get vaccinated might just get a “discount” to the tune of 1,000 Qantas points, if everything goes as planned.

“We are looking at giving 1,000 points, flight vouchers, status credits and we’re going to offer ten mega prizes, at least one for each state and territory, where a family of four get unlimited travel on the Qantas and Jetstar network, anywhere in the network for a year,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce told The Today Show on Monday morning.

That’s kind of a huge thing to just blab on about on breakfast TV when the details haven’t even been finalised, but hey, there’s nothing like a bit of positive chaos as we approach the tail end of COVID.

It’s not just flights that’re up for grabs, either. Accor Hotels is also set to give the grand-prize-winning families a million points each to cover accommodation while they jet-set all over the country.

If you’ve already had the jab, never fear, because you’ll also be in the running for the aforementioned unlimited travel plus a whole slew of other prizes.

“We are trying our best to help with this [vaccine] rollout – [the draw] will be retrospective and will include anyone who has already been vaccinated and will apply to anybody that is vaccinated until the end of 2021,” Joyce said.

Obviously Qantas wants everyone vaccinated because their whole business model requires open borders, both between states and between countries. Joyce himself even admitted that much.

But seeing as we all need to get vaccinated against COVID-19 anyway, this sure is a fun and potentially-lucrative way to speed up that process and achieve herd immunity nationwide.

It’s not exactly clear what qualifies as a family of four.  Do housemates count? What if you don’t have kids? So many unanswered questions.

Joyce also didn’t mention how we’re supposed to enter the draw in the first place.

We’ll hopefully have some answers when this whole scheme is up and running sometime in July.

In the meantime, you can see if you’re eligible to get vaccinated here.
