Instagram has released its yearly data dump of the most ‘grammed places across Australia, and you’ll N E V E R guess what came in at number one: everybody’s favourite branded beach, Bondi.
SHOOK, we are! Shook to our very CORES!
But aside from that beacon of tourists, bloggers, backpackers, surfers and television crew, what else earned a place in the most Instagrammed Australian havens of 2017?
Read on.
1. NSW – BONDI BEACH
Have you even been to Sydney if you haven’t travelled to Bondi and taken a pic for the ‘gram, most likely from above the Iceberg‘s pool? No. At least far as Instagram is concerned.
2. SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE
Hint: scroll to the third pic. Brittany Snow is not just a good actress / singer, but can take a rare shot of our Opera House as well.
3. DARLING HARBOUR
Confusing, but okay. I live in Sydney. I can be as basic as the next person, but I’ve never felt much desire to ‘gram Darling Harbour.

4. MANLY BEACH
Ahhh, the ‘other’ Bondi. Sorry to every Manly resident I’ve just insulted. SORRY! Your beach is good and popular, too.
5. SYDNEY HARBOUR
Yep, paying it. Sydney is pretty as hell, and doubly so from the water.
6. SURFERS PARADISE BEACH
Apparently this beach is quite good for surfers. I wouldn’t know, but it’s very popular for Instagrammers, which I do know.
7. ST KILDA BEACH
This is Melbourne going, ‘Hey! We might whine when it hits 25 degrees or above, but we have a beach, too!!!”
8. SOUTH BANK, BRISBANE
Ah, but back to Brisbane. More water. Very aesthetic. Nice.
9. MCG
Hey sports fans. Guess there’s a lot of sports fans here.
10. NATIONAL GALLERY OF VICTORIA
This is intriguingly high-brow of you lot. Well done. Get that ‘gram of you looking at art.
Instagram has also released data around the top ten most followed Australian celebrities, and quelle horreur – Hugh Jackman has pipped Chris Hemsworth to the #1 spot.
