Seems like every soul in the country but me has locked in a trip to Byron Bay for the summer and I absolutely love this for you guys, but not for me… perhaps I should take a break from Instagram over the next few months, lest I drop dead from jealousy?
That is, unless you share snaps of all the stars who are currently in Byron, ‘cos that’s something I’d love to see in my social feeds!
For selfish reasons, I’ve pulled together a list of hotspots over in Byron Bay where celebs often visit.
So do us all a favour and hit up these star-studded haunts while you’re there and share pics on social media if you spot any celebs.
The General Store
Wondering why that name sounds familiar? ‘Cos that’s where ya boi Zac Efron met his Byron Bay boo Vanessa Valladares, and so began their epic love story.
Vanessa was a waitress at the trendy cafe at the time and quit to spend every waking second with Zac and, I mean, you would.
An insider told Who Magazine that Vanessa and Zac “were introduced by her boss,” which means she likely left on good terms and might just pop back in with her Hollywood star boo from time to time.
Some tea on The General Store in Byron Bay: it was established in 1947 and is among Byron’s oldest commercial buildings still standing. Their goal is to “retain this lineage as well as producing great quality food and adapting to an environmentally friendly change.”
They serve cafe-type food from burgs to bowls and are known for their A++ coffee.
Rae’s
This lush Byron Bay establishment is a restaurant, bar and retreat all rolled up in one.
Located right on Wategos Beach, their website throws around words like “boutique”, “elegant” and “opulent”, so you just know it’s where the stars visit when they’re in town.
Rae’s has seen a host of ‘yuge names including Elle Macpherson, Tom Cruise, Keith Richards and Kate Winslet.
Make sure your phone has charge when you rock up ‘cos you’re bound to spot someone!
Top Shop
An old 1950’s Byron Bay milk bar that serves legit the best burgers, fries and milkshakes you’ll ever have the pleasure of tasting.
Speaking of tasty shit, Chris Hemsworth has been spotted strolling into Top Shop (barefoot, mind you) with his brood on many an occasion. Peep some pics of the Thor star ordering alongside his kiddies here.
The Top Shop boasts inside dining in their sick venue, along with plenty of grass space on the lawn for you and your pals to sit and enjoy your food (and keep your eyes peeled for hungry celebs).
Bayleaf Cafe
Another Byron Bay establishment that’s had the pleasure of hosting Chris Hemsworth and his bare feet.
Bayleaf Cafe is an ultra hip cafe with a laidback vibe, serving everything from delish salads to gourmet burgers and fries.
They also sell a range of products so that you can have the Bayleaf experience at home, including their famous Vegemite salt, dukkah, as well as teas and coffee.
You’ll easily spot this sweet Byron Bay spot for its signature graffiti on the walls. Check it:
