I’m gonna stop you right there and claim that Alice Springs is Australia‘s Cappadocia. Don’t believe me? You have some nerve.
Not only can you go hot air ballooning over the desert, you can also….well, go hot air ballooning over the desert – that’s essentially the only two similarities between the NT and the famous region of Turkey. The views are glorious in both respects, though.
If you’ve never ventured to Central Australia, a) you must be from Sydney, and b) you’re sorely missing out. There is quite literally nothing as ~authentically Australian~ as hiring one of these 4WD bad boiz (see: below photo) and cruising along the Finke River. Trust me – I’ve asked around.
Also, you guys – there’s an actual, real-life Kangaroo Sanctuary smack dab in the middle of the Red Centre, where you can cuddle actual, real-life kangaroos. I mean, come on.
If swaddling Australia’s most treasured animal isn’t quite your style, you can rest your feet and roam about on 2-metre-high camels as you soak in NT’s famous sunset.
Back a bit tired from riding camels all day? Get your butts to one of the old school, deeply Aussie pubs scattered throughout the town for a cold frothie.
