By today’s standards, the original Game Boy is quite an outdated brick of a contraption. Besides clinging on to the past, the only other thing it’s good for is being hurled at full force into a pack of One Nation supporters.
Gautier Hattenberger decided to take a less violent approach, choosing instead to hook the classic handheld console to his laptop so he could pilot his drone with it. We couldn’t find a picture of Mr. Hattenberger, so we had an artist do his best impression based on the man’s name.
Old mate detailed his work on the Paparazzi UAV Blog, even adding a snazzy little picture that shows how he went about the connection.
While this kind of wizardry isn’t exactly easy, there are plenty of online resources floating around that allow enthusiasts to create their own Frankenstein Game Boy creations. And then there’s this full-blown weirdo that figured out how to run a Game Boy on steam power. Vibes.
If you wanna have a crack at the good times with your own drone, you can suss the code right here.
Or if you’d prefer to assume the role of spectator in such electronic endeavours, you can watch Mr. Hattenberger go full pelt with his drone below.
