There’s Now A ‘Netflix For Gaming’ That Turns Your Shitbox PC Into A Beast

Anyone into PC gaming will know how expensive that shit can be, especially if you want a high-end rig that’ll run the latest games on maxed-out settings.

And if you own a Mac, you can forget about gaming altogether, unless you’re into Peggle, or whatever.
But now, my low-end PC peasants, graphics card lords Nvidia are throwing you a massive bone with a brand new service that will allow you to stream games from the cloud. YES M8, YOU CAN PLAY SOME GROUSE GAMES ON YA MAC NOW.
You still have to purchase games through Steam or Origin like you normally would, only you’ll have access to one of Nvidia‘s souped-up virtual machines to play them on.
The company say the service will be compatible “with most” PC and Mac computers. In terms of internet speed, you’ll need a 20 Mbps connection for 720p at 60 frames per second, or 50 Mbps for 1080p at 60 frames per second.
After downloading the GeForce Now client, you’ll be treated to 8 hours for free on a GTX 1060 PC or 4 hours on a GTX 1080 PC. For the lesser-nerds out there, these two tiers refer to the power of graphics processing. Currently, the GTX 1080 is about the best graphics card you can get.
After your free time runs out, you can get 20 hours on the 1060 or 10 hours on the 1080 for $25.
If you play for 2 hours a day on the 1060 machine, that works out to $912 per year. It’s cheaper than buying a gaming PC, but the company are definitely getting the better end of the deal considering a GTX 1080 costs about $900 right now.
Still, it’s pretty rad that we’re on the cusp of a Netflix for gaming. The service will begin rolling out in March.
