I still remember when the Tamagotchi phase hit my primary school. I was in year four and the first kid in my class to get one went and ruined it for the rest of us by asking the teacher if he could go outside to feed it. Fucking narc.
When I finally convinced my mum to buy me one, I had to ask the teacher if I could go to the bathroom so i could feed the digital mongrel on the sly. It broke my damn heart whenever I saw three or four poos sitting next to him during the day. Poor little guy.
Now you can feel bad about neglecting your tiny pet all over again, because the original Tamagotchi pets are copping a re-release.
Not to be confused with the 2013 release of Tamagotchi Friends, which was kinda like the shitty spinoff version of the electronic critters, these are the OG characters, including everyone’s favourite, the little blob fella.
While the pets are the same, the interface has changed slightly. The whole thing is smaller this time around and some reports say the little icons across the top and bottom are no longer there.
The old timer on the left compared with the new one on the right
At this stage, you can only get them from Japanese stores or online from Amazon Japan for 1,920 yen (around $AU24), but I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up here at some stage.
