As a gamer, there really is nothing worse than having your hardware fail on you. Whether it’s a PC or a console makes no difference, broken shit is broken shit and it’s absolutely maddening.
Sometimes it can’t be helped. You took care of your device as best you could, played it into the ground and it simply ran its course. RIP in peace and all that.
What’s harder to hack, though, is when some slimy little critters decide your expensive game box is where they’re gonna set up camp, do heaps of fucking and raise an ugly family.
Eventually, one of those tiny assholes is going to create a problematic connection between two components or their shit is going to melt onto the hardware. Either way, it’ll likely end with your console not turning on.
Worse still, the manufacturers won’t repair or replace it. In other words, bugs in your shit voids the warranty on your device.
The TronicsFix YouTube channel says the PlayStation 4 is particularly welcoming to roaches due to the size of the vents on the power supply and the warmth the unit creates. It’s a warm, dark, cozy haven for your worst fucking nightmare.
Most owners will be oblivious to the issue until eventually, their unit just loses all power. No standby light, nothing. It’s not until someone cracks it open and sees the telltale signs of infestation that they realise, and it’s never a pretty sight.
So, how do you avoid your console becoming a roach dream home? Firstly, try and store it somewhere high off the ground with plenty of air flow. Don’t block the vents, because your machine will overheat and die anyway.
And keep your house clean, you grubs.
