iOS 11’s Screen Recording Feature Can Be Used To Secretly Capture Snapchats

Now that iOS 11 is here, the inevitable deluge of grievances have begun to emerge. It happens every damn year, folks.

The latest software update contains a new feature that allows users to record their screens, a feature that’s been around the Android camps for a while, but is now a part Apple’s base operating system for the first time.

As the horniest of users have discovered, this feature can be used to record vanishing messages like those sent via Snapchat. While users receive notifications when their snaps are captured with a screenshot, they can’t currently detect the new screen recording feature.

In other words, all the people who received that snap of you snorting a couple of fast ones of your mate’s ass could have recorded it without your knowledge.

It doesn’t work if you access the Control Centre whilst viewing a snap, but if it’s running beforehand, you’ll capture all that shit. A spokesperson for Snapchat has told Mashable that a future update will detect and inform users if screen recording is being used, but only if the person recording it has the updated version – 10.17.5.

If you wanna take the feature for a spin yourself – without being a dick about it – you can add it to your Control Centre by going to Settings, tapping on Control Centre, then Customise Controls. Here, add Screen Recording to the list and it’ll appear when you swipe up to access your controls.

So there you go, think twice about sending those horny pictures of yourself out there. In fact, just assume everyone will be saving everything you send them.
