NASA Asked The Internet For Messages To Send Into Space & Got Only Filth

When will we learn that the internet is not to be trusted with naming or contributing any kind of textual message of importance to anything? Did we not see what happened when the internet was asked to name a very important research boat? The winning name was Boaty McBoatface.

To celebrate the Voyager 1 space probe’s 40th birthday, NASA have asked the denizens of Twitter to share nice encouraging messages for it, with one of them to be beamed through space to the little guy himself.

“Join NASA in celebrating the Voyager mission’s 40 years of exploring space. Inspired by the messages of goodwill carried on Voyager’s Golden Record, you’re invited to send via social media a short, uplifting #MessageToVoyager and all that lies beyond it,” NASA wrote.

“With input from the Voyager team and a public vote, one of these messages will be selected for NASA to beam into interstellar space on Sept. 5, 2017 — the 40th anniversary of Voyager 1’s launch.”

I regret to inform you that many of the messages are nothing short of absolute filth and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Here’s what you sickos wanna send the 40-year-old space probe who is nothing but kind to us.

FILTH.

We’re going to beam a message through 21 billion km of space to the hardest working probe we’ve ever known and you’re asking it for nudes? Sweet Jesus.

At least one person has the right idea.
