This Very Realistic Game Is About Avoiding People & Petting Dogs At Parties

We all yearn for realism in video games and that usually comes down to lifelike graphics over its concept, but folks, we may have found the most realistic game ever made.

It’s called Pet the Pup at the Party and the objective is to find and pet the pup at the party to alleviate your social anxiety. The graphics are far from realistic, but the premise is more relatable than anything I’ve ever played before. People? Not interested. Gimme dogs, the true good boys.

Created by designer Will Herring, the game is set in a first-person perspective and gives you two minutes to pet as many dogs as possible. There are a whole lot of people that you’ll need to navigate and they’re all grumpy as hell for some reason. Either that or absolutely shitfaced. Look at this idiot. He’s belted, mate.

They’re also constantly looking in your direction which only seems to amplify an overbearing sense of social anxiety. You can try and talk to them, but they just end up swearing at you so fuck that.

The doggos aren’t all the easy to find, either. You’ll have to walk through a maze-like house full of rooms and listen for the sporadic “arf” sounds for clues. Once you find and successfully pet the dog, you must immediately run off to find another. Gotta pet ’em all.

When the timer hits zero, you’ll get a summary of all the special doggos you’ve pet. All the new dogs you encounter will be added to a cute little collection you can access at any time. Each entry has the dog’s breed, name and a little sentence on their personality.

The game is available right here on a name-your-own-price basis. Don’t be a stinge, though. Give the genius some money because he bloody deserves it.
