That’s a 6 figure income for posting videos, folks. Now ask yourself, what kind of content could attract that kind of attention? The sweet attention that advertisers crave. Well, turns out there’s a pretty wide range.
Some folks post about their daily lives, some play video games, and others break a number of eggs over a turkey they’ve just fisted. Yeah, you read that last one correctly.
YouTube channel HowToBasic is disguised as a helpful aide for the most mundane of daily tasks, with videos like ‘How to Dry a Shirt in 30 Seconds’ or ‘How to Stuff a Turkey’, but they’re absolutely not what they claim to be.
The unknown creator of these videos never shows more than his hands or feet in his bizarre videos, which almost always involve smashing eggs over the subject matter mentioned in the title. Check out his take on how a turkey should be stuffed below.
Incredibly, HowToBasic is number 1 on the top 20 Aussie channels list provided by YouTube Australia, with 9,755,070 subscribers and 1.58 billion video views. To put that in perspective, Iggy Azalea‘s VEVO page is at number 4 on the list, with 5,086,087 subscribers.
Let that sink in for a moment – the biggest content creator we offer the world of YouTube pretends to shit a turkey into a toilet. To me, this is absolutely wild.
But there’s definitely a level of genius to his approach. You see, along with the fans of his incredibly strange brand of comedy, he’d also cop traffic from folks who legitimately just want to know how stuff a goddamn turkey. SIKE, he fists the turkey with eggs! He got you good!
According to SocialBlade, the page pulls in anywhere between $US155.9K ($205,510) and $US2.5 million ($3.3 million) per year. Sure, that’s a huge window, but even at its lowest level, that’s a fuckload of money for making moaning noises and destroying an absurd number of eggs on film.
