Remember Bubsy? He was the video game cat that didn’t wear pants and had an insatiable desire for balls of yarn. He loved yarn so much, he dived off fucking cliffs to get it. Insanity.
Now Bubsy’s original developer, Accolade, is bringing him back from the dead in a new game, probably to cash in on the enormous wave of nostalgia sweeping the globe.
It’s called Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back and judging from the trailer, it looks like it’ll play largely like the original platformer. It even has the same catchy jingle. Suss it out below.
“Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is an all new Bubsy adventure featuring Bubsy in a bevy of exotic locations as he travels the planet looking for the beloved Golden Fleece,” the company said in their press release.
“Bubsy must use all of his classic moves and a few new ones to dodge and out bobcat a battalion of Woolies, sharks and bess, not mention the gnarliest UFO bosses to ever grace a Bubsy adventure.”
Bubsy first appeared on the scene back in 1993 in Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and it was a bloody laugh riot. Peruse some footage at your leisure below.
The last game, Bubsy 3D was released in 1996, but it was what you would call a ‘steaming pile of shit’.
The Woolies Strike Back is due for release on PS4 and PC in spring.
