Remember when Facebook announced a bunch of new Instagram features back at its F8 conference a little while ago? Welp, now you can use them, folks.
The most notable of the new features is video calling in DMs, which, by the looks of it, even supports group calls. It’s not known whether there’s a maximum number of people you can have in a single call, but according to the image below, four is definitely an option.
To start a video chat, you need to have an active conversation going in your DMs where both parties have responded. You’ll know if you have the all clear when you see the little video button at the top right corner of the chat window. Obviously, blocking or muting someone will disable their ability to start a video chat.
Along with that, you’ll now be able to access custom AR filters made by third-parties, whether it’s influencers, celebrities, or companies. I, for one, can’t wait to see the wildly weird shit people come up with here.
The Explore tab has also had a redesign, presenting topics at the top of the screen like, music, animals, sport, and trending hashtags. There’s also the option to look at a “For You“ section, which is catered to all the shit the app thinks you dig.
You should be able to access all these goodies right now, but if they’re not showing up, make sure your app is updated to the latest version and give it another whirl.
