Last week, Bethesda‘s Todd Howard unveiled a wealth of information about the upcoming entry into the Fallout series, Fallout 76. Boasting a map that’s 4 times the size of Fallout 4‘s, the new game will be entirely online. In other words, this is the Fallout version of The Elder Scrolls Online.
As is the case most entirely online games, a beta will run prior to the title’s actual release on November 14, allowing those who pre-order the game to play it ahead of everyone else. We don’t know when exactly the beta will start, but we now know that Xbox One players will have access before PC and PlayStation 4‘s.
According to the Fallout 76 FAQ, the beta will be a timed exclusive for Xbox One, after which it’ll be available to play on the other two platforms. We still don’t know how long this will be, but my guess would be between a few days to one week. Bethesda will announce more via its social channels as the beta draws closer.
It’s uncertain where the beta servers will be situated, but after speaking with Howard at E3, we can confirm that the Fallout 76 full release will use Amazon Web Services, which work well here in Australia and are used by a heap of Australian businesses already.
“We have a ton of fans in Australia, it’s amazing, and so we wanna make sure they have a great experience, they’ve been good supporters of us for a long time,” he told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
