They say you can’t rush perfection, but if that’s true then is shaping up to be pretty bloody good.
After multiple delays and push-backs – done, so the story goes, to allow the production team to get things exactly how they want – the long-awaited ‘South Park: The Fractured But Whole‘ has an official release date.
The follow up to 2014’s seriously great game ‘The Stick of Truth‘ is now set for release on October 17th, on XBox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The game was officially announced back in June of 2015, and at one point was slated to be released in time for Christmas 2016. But a series of production delays were required in order to “meet the high expectation of fans” after ‘Stick of Truth‘ became a surprising commercial and critical hit.
Being reasonably enthusiastic gamers themselves, Matt Stone and Trey Parker have always been reluctant to put out a game under the ‘South Park‘ banner that sucked, and if this new trailer that accompanied today’s announcement of a release date is anything to go by, this one is absolutely not going to.
Skewering the various superhero movie franchises that dominate cinemas (rather than the pure fantasy that inspired SoT) ‘The Fractured But Whole‘ follows the kids of South Park as a missing cat mystery turns into something much, much more sinister.
Also there are farts.
Farts that are far more powerful than ever before.
Yep. Yes please. That’ll do. That’ll do just nicely, thank you very much.
The game, pre-orders for which include a free download of ‘Stick of Truth‘, hits consoles from October 17th.
