Valve Has Finally Defused The ‘Portal 3’ Easter Egg Rumours In ‘CS:GO’

Earlier this week, gamers exploring the brand new battle royale mode released for CS:GO stumbled across a room containing a bunch of computers and a strange audio message. When deciphered, the message turns out to be a clear nod to the Portal series, leading many to believe that developer, Valve, is hinting at Portal 3. Yesterday, the company came to the party with an answer.

Unfortunately, folks, the message is just a neat little easter egg and not an indication that Portal 3 is on its way. “Congrats to all who have found our Portal Easter egg on dz_blacksite! We’re just having a bit of fun and the Easter egg is not a product announcement. Enjoy Danger Zone!,” the tweet says.

Worked out by a Reddit user, the message translates to the opening line of the famous Portal song, Still Alive, which is played during the credits of the first game. “This was a triumph, I’m making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS,” it says. You can read more about how it was found and deciphered at the link below.

If it was true, it wouldn’t be the first time Valve has hidden clues to an upcoming title in another game. The original Portal had hints about Portal 2 hidden in radios scattered around its various stages.

Sorry to break it to you, folks, but it doesn’t look like we’re getting a Portal 3 anytime soon. Bummer.
