This Program Lets You Trade Renting For Travelling & Working ‘Round The Globe

If you work in the digital industry, having a concrete office can seem a bit obsolete.

Really, if your job relies on a computer and a steady internet connection, there’s no reason why you can’t work from home / a café / a Tahitian beach.
Some clever cookettes have created ‘Remote Year‘ – a program that invites “digital nomads” to travel the world while working remotely.
For a monthly cost of $2000 (which could most likely be your rent if you’re lucky enough to call Sydney home) Remote Year will pay for and organise all travel between destinations, accommodation, workspaces with internet and community events with other ‘remotes’.

As the website reads:
“Remote Year is not a job provider. All participants will need their own remote jobs once the program begins. However, you do not need to have a remote job to apply – we will provide guidance and resources for how to get your employer on board. We’ve seen success with Fortune 500 and startup companies and with traditional and non-traditional remote roles. We’ll help you get creative with transitioning into a remote position.”
It’s brilliant for a few reasons – you get to meet other likeminded workers, you get to travel the world and visit places that are teeming with creativity. Not too bad at all.

The accom isn’t some shitty bunk bed set up, either. Every place you go, you get your own bedroom.
“When you are outside your comfort zone, you have no choice but to open yourself up to others. I’ve been surprised to learn that being vulnerable is not as terrifying when you have 74 other people who also have no choice but to throw caution to the wind and put their whole selves out there for strangers to see,” says one review by Angela Sandall.
Pretty dang cool. You can sign up here.
See you in Santiago
